A Series of Tubes?

01-13-2009

I have finally been able to figure out how to send my isht down the tubes.

After several days of figuring out the most desired codecs and compression methods, using four programs off both windows and mac os, i’ve gotten some test videos up on youtube. Right now it’s just four videos, of a Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 online match. It was a good 2v2 scrimmage. I’ve added annotations, camera work, and a Point of View version.LINK

Anyways, I’ve gotten the hang of illustrator. I will begin regularly shoving deviations down the pipes. This is a great metaphor! Like a big toilet, except that I’m asking people to look into the other end. Post will be edited with a link to the first one shortly.

Otherwise, life has been pretty okay. Today was the first day of the spring semester. So far I have gotten one good teacher and one bad one, so pretty even. Been jammin some Scion mix CDs. Good isht.

In other geek news, I eagerly await Apple’s latest bomb drops: iWork ‘09, iLife ‘09, Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and Apple’s Grand Central Technology. Quicktime does not apparently have dual core support, so rendering and encoding times are a nightmare. I ran a 30GB uncompressed HD recording through VirtualDUB on Windows, into a 1GB AVI, and it took 30 minutes. On the other hand, compressing that AVI into a 200mb flash MP4 through Quicktime took over 6 hours. I don’t know.

That’s all for now. Gotta get back to illustrator-ing. Illing? That sounds blacker- I mean, cooler.
